The relaxation of the health emergency allows Vittorino da Feltre to restart with the organization of traditional competitive events, historically included in the rojiblanco sports calendar. A restart in the name of tennis, with the women’s Open Delta Rem-Unipolsai, presented today at the company’s headquarters in Via Del Pontiere, which will take place from May 18 to 29 on the red clay courts of the Vittorino.
“Let’s start again – underlined during the presentation press conference the director of the red and white company in charge of tennis, Bruno Pernigotti – with a historic tournament that we have organized for many years and that the health emergency had forced us to suspend in the last two years. This year we decided to focus on a competitive women’s event, to which we wanted to add, as a side event, also a third category men’s tournament that will start on May 14 and that can already have more than a hundred partners. I thank Unipolsai and Delta Rem for continuing to support us in organizing this tournament.”
At the speakers’ table, in addition to the representatives of the organizing partners of the tournament – Stefano Teragni for Unipolsai AssiPiacenza and Manuel Calegari for Delta Rem – also the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Piacenza, Stefano Cavalli, who wanted to underline “the organizational capacity of Vittorino da Feltre, and the appreciable choice to dedicate the trophy to Domenico Mazzoni, historical patron of Delta Rem Autodemolizioni, an enlightened businessman and entrepreneur from Piacenza, who died a little over a year ago, who had always been personally committed to supporting not only the Vittorino tennis tournament, but also the sports promotion initiatives implemented by CONI in Piacenza.” “I thank Vittorino – echoed Manuel Calegari, Domenico Mazzoni’s grandson and representative, along with Carlo Parisi, of Delta Rem – for having wanted to remember my grandfather with this tournament to which he was very attached and to which he always dedicated himself with great commitment and passion. My grandfather was a great sports fan who loved to see children having fun practicing the most varied sports”.
Sport at a competitive level but also a tournament that will contribute, in the name of sports promotion, to bring tennis closer to some young people. “It is precisely in this perspective – Stefano Teragni underlined – that Domenico Mazzoni used to support the organization of major sporting events. Domenico, although he is not a sports director, did a lot for the sport of Piacenza; he supported Vittorino, the provincial Coni and many companies in our area. It was only fair to remember and honor him and I thank Vittorino for naming him this Women’s Open which will undoubtedly bring a high-level competitive event to Piacenza”.
