Always easy on Asvel’s side, Victor Wembanyama is still talked about across the Atlantic, with great admiration. The Frenchman is the most anticipated prospect for 2023, and ESPN will not help to cool down. The latest player report? Monstrous.
We haven’t gotten there yet, and yet the 2023 draft is highly anticipated among NBA franchises. One name on mind for scouts: Victor Wembanyama, who is drawing crowds in France right now, but not for long. There is almost no doubt that the center will cross the Atlantic, and with some pressure on his shoulders. It must be said that ESPN specialist Mike Schmitz is full of praise:
Who is the real prize in the 2023 NBA Draft? Victor Wembanyama. We often abuse the term “generational perspective”. This is not one of those times. https://t.co/Cf5xYRYecK pic.twitter.com/Dh7YuA6aZp

Who is the real price for this 2023 draft? Victor Wembanyama. The term “generational perspective” is often used incorrectly. That is not the case here.
Victor Wembanyama among the greatest prospects in history?
Yes, Victor is eagerly awaited and Schmitz is very confident in the future. Obviously the Frenchman must continue to progress, with no injuries on the horizon, but the pivot is already the 2023 Mock Draft first and foremost, with no possible debate. ESPN paints a very promising picture of Wembanyama, who could have the ability to change the future of a team.
Wembanyama is the sensation of this cuvée and the best prospect in the world, regardless of age. I have long considered the 18-year-old the best prospect I have personally watched, so much so that the sky is the only limit for him. (…) Asvel loosens him with screens away from the ball, like a winger, allowing him to take advantage of his touch on the ball. With his handling and his work at the support level, he looks like a bigger Kevin Durant, able to create and put up his three-pointer with a step back.
He’s starting to expand his game from midrange, being able to flip shoulder shots in an incredible way. He manages to catch balloons that no other player can imagine. On top of all that, he protects the circle from him to a fantastic level, much more than Rudy Gobert at the same age, while showing an ability to come out on three points to defend the backs, like no other player his size.
Of course, Victor will have to continue to grow, avoiding injuries as much as possible, but his potential seems crazy:
Wembanyama is perhaps the prospect of a generation, a player capable of changing a franchise and a future MVP, as long as he stays healthy.
Victor Wembanyama future superstar? It is all the bad that we wish the Frenchman, but he will have to continue working to reach a certain level, and meet the expectations of the different franchises. His adventure is just beginning.
